![]() After two people disappear during an annual village festival, Keiichi finds out people regularly disappear from the village, and they're often outsiders or people who've otherwise angered the village. Higurashi is a horror mystery, centering on Keiichi Maebara, a teenager who moves to the small town of Hinamizawa. (My other faves are the Umineko console sprites, and the Higurashi sprites baked into the modern pc release, I don't think you can go too wrong with those) Of course the important thing is reading the thing, so if they're really that off-putting I can't stop you. ![]() But there's a lot of subtle nuance to the facial expressions that none of the other sprite sets really replicate? And they're drawn by the author himself, so in terms of author intent they cannot possibly be more accurate, if that matters to you. ![]() I think Higurashi's sprites especially can appear a bit off if you're not used to it. But I would personally still recommend giving the original, ham hand sprites a go, at least for the first arc, to see if they grow on you. Some of these sprite sets are genuinely very pretty. (Technically higurashi has two console sprite sets but they're pretty similar.) Both Umineko and Higurashi have an alternate sprite set baked into the modern PC releases, and there's an additional set, the "console" sprite set, if you choose to mod them in, complete with new backgrounds. I appreciate the hustle of this incredibly unsubtle thread.įor people who don't like the sprites, allow me to make my case: yes there are sprite set alternatives.
